Project Personnel
Diane Sprague is the director of the Lifetime Home Project. Prior to its founding in 2006, she worked for the state of Minnesota for nearly 30 years - four with the Minnesota State Planning Agency/Developmental Disabilities Planning Office and 25 with the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (MHFA). She also worked for the Cuyahoga County (Cleveland, OH) Regional Planning Commission early in her career.
Her major work experience is in the affordable housing field, particularly in supportive housing arrangements for seniors and persons with disabilities. Her technical specialty since the early 1980s has been home accessible and universal design, with a background that includes developing/coordinating MHFA's statewide home accessibility remodeling program 14 years; developing/ delivering conference presentations, training and workshops; and writing about the field for diverse audiences. She currently instructs in the online Executive Certificate in Home Modification program offered by the University of Southern California's National Resource Center on Supportive Housing and Home Modification.
Diane has developed a more recent technical specialty in home telehealth. She has monitored emerging practices/technologies and done site visits to key universities researching home sensor networking; developed/delivered community education, professional training and conference presentations on the subject; and been a member of the American Telemedicine Association since 2005.
She received an undergraduate degree in political science from Miami University (OH) and a graduate degree from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs/University of Minnesota.
